Weekly Challenge #269

Happy Tuesday!

I hope all my Canadian Friends had a happy May Long weekend!
It seems that as soon as things warm up around here, we are busy with things until the snow falls again in the winter.

May is practically over - and the boys will be done school in a little of a month - and then it's off to California for us!  But before that happens there are so many things that have to happen.  Both boys school schedules are busy with year end activities and field trips.  Chewie has his dance recital coming up... and then there's the annual fundraising 5K Colour Run that my friends and i put on to raise funds for Beads of Courage - oh yeah, next weekend i'm running the SaskMarathon 10K (and i've barely trained, it's gonna be a sad run for me)

It feels like we've hit the ground running with no end in sight!

when the boys get along i feel like the luckiest mom in the world
You guys, my flower in my new flower bed are a constant bringer of JOY into my life.  lol.  I mean, look at these tulips!! They're so beautiful.

to bright and lovely
On sunday of this long weekend my family had a fundraiser BBQ to help pay for the registration fees for our family and my parents - for the Moebius Syndrome conference that we're heading to California for.
in this photo you'll see my youngest brother looking 'natural',
my mother in the process of giving a thumbs up,
and my dad and older brother pretending that they don't know us.
Sadly, the weather wasn't that great and the BBQ was NOT as successful as we'd hoped.  Better than last year's, though.  We may give up on this idea altogether and look for alternative fundraising ideas in the future.

Artoo has super excited this week because he was invited to his friend from school, Quniton's, birthday party!  AND they were going Glow Bowling!! Every morning for the last week and a half he would count down the days until Quinton's party and when the day finally came it was everything he hoped for and more.  :)  He really had a blast at the party!!

Artoo squealing with delight as his friend Ally plays her turn

These good friends!! Artoo and the Birthday Boy!!
Chewie also got invited to a friend's birthday party this weekend.  I don't have any pictures of that to share, though, because it was a 'drop off' party.  But his friend's mom told me when i came to pick him up how polite and kind Chewie was, and how he was always helping and watching over the little ones (all the younger siblings) - and it was nice to hear that from someone else.  Maybe we're doing something right over here.  lol.

Weekly Challenge #269: "New Official Tangle: Ellish"

i was very excited when the latest issue of the Zentangle newsletter was sent out this week (sign up here) with the step outs for the new Tangle from HQ called Ellish!

I've been eyeing this tangle, lovingly, from afar.  CZTs often get a heads up on the new tangles so i've known about this for a little while - but i've yet had the chance to sit down and try it out.

There's plenty of Ellish eye candy on the Mosaic App, if you have that, as well.  Search #ellish to find more examples of this tangle.

my very first attempt -
surrounded by my new Old-Fave, Poke-root and some swirly hair of Enyshou
After completing my first tile, i immediately started another, this time i just let them sort of build off each other.  It was pretty fun to see them grow in front of my eyes.

#ellish #DC269 #hashtag #imawesome #youaretoo

Have fun trying this one out, if you haven't already!!

And if you're on the App, - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges.  So if you're game use the hashtag #DC269 (Diva Challenge #269) for your tile this week!

[i had been using a much longer hashtag for past challenges - iatdwc for iamthediva weekly challenge - but i'm shortening it for ease and for less memorizing random letters ;)]

Have a great week!!

If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)

  2. Isn't it nice when the kids do get along...before summer stickiness drags on and they are SO BORED and everybody just can't wait for school again? Thanks for featuring this fun new tangle Ellish. Your samples are really wonderful. I must get busy!

  3. I remember the time when my boys were young and how proud I was to get sometimes a compliment about their behaviour. I am sure you are a good mum and you deserved to get some compliments!!!

  4. It's just the best to hear from someone else how wonderful your children are, but you knew that already :) I knew Ellish would show up soon and it has been giving me fits LOL! Thanks for the push to do it right! (And, no, I don't try to be first. I just get up very early LOL!)

  5. Thanks so much for this challenge! I tried this tangle when it was introduced at the CZT23 seminar. I struggled with it, and then did not revisit it again. I really needed the push ;-)

  15. Hi Laura
I did the linky thing for the first time, and I did screw it up a bit. There are two links with my name, #60, #61. Could you remove link #60, it's wrong. But I did 61 just fine. Thanks for publishing my tile last week. I felt very special!

  16. I'm having the same problem I had the last time I tried to post my challenge tile. I get an error message saying an unknown error occurred while processing my post, and to try again later. I don't know if the problem is on my end or yours. I'll try again later. till then, my URL is http://audriew.blogspot.com/2016/05/divas-269-ellish-joeys-114-roman.html

  17. I think I finally got it done. I really love Ellish. It's a beautifully fluid tangle; and very versatile. My tile is very simple, but I know I'll use it in many ways in the future.
